The Parallel Mode Process
The Arete Sports Model for Peak Performance

The Parallel Mode Process (PMP) is a step-by-step process that will show you exactly how to get in the zone, then how to maintain the zone, and finally how to compete in the zone.

The short version goes like this: the human operating system has two very different modes of operation:

1: a Serial Mode of Operation (SM)

2: a Parallel Mode of Operation (PM)

When you are playing tennis in your Normal Performance State, when you are playing tennis "in the norm," your operating system is functioning in its Serial Mode of operation.

But when you are playing tennis in your Peak Performance State, when you are playing tennis "in the zone," your operating system is functioning in its Parallel Mode of operation.

Bottom line:

SM = Normal Performance State = Playing tennis "in the norm."

PM = Peak Performance State = Playing tennis "in the zone."

SWITCHING TO PARALLEL MODE

The Steps of the PMP will take you through specific, on-court exercises designed to show you how to make the switch from your Serial Mode of operation to your Parallel Mode of operation.

And when you make the switch from your Serial Mode to your Parallel Mode, you will automatically make the switch from playing tennis in the norm to playing tennis in the zone.
