Takeshi Shiga Director, Arete Sports, Japan
Professional Career:
Takeshi Shiga specializes in consumer product marketing, and has worked for Microsoft as the product manager of Office and MSN in Japan. He was formerly a producer at the Japanese game content provider SQUARE ENIX. Takeshi is currently Director of Arete Sports, Japan where he is expanding the Parallel Mode Process in a country with rich traditions in higher-consciousness and sport. Scott Ford on Takeshi: One day I received an email from Tokyo, Japan. It was from Takeshi and he’d seen the “Welcome to the Zone” DVD and wanted to come to the States to try out the Parallel Mode Process with me personally. Since I always welcome new students, I told him, “Sure, if you are ever in the States, give me a call and we’ll get together here in Denver. The next day I received another email from Takeshi stating: “I’ll be in there in two weeks.” Takeshi and I connected with each other very quickly. It was immediately clear to me that Takeshi understood the essence of the Parallel Mode Process at a fairly deep level. After a weekend “in the zone”, the Arete Sports Japan Project was launched.
Takeshi on collaborating with Scott Ford and Team Arete:
I have played tennis myself for more than 20 years, and happened to find the DVD of "Welcome to the Zone" on the internet in Japan. I was amazed by the fact that the Parallel Mode Process brings a feeling of security to the physical aspects of life such as playing tennis. This feeling of security is usually believed to be obtained by mental practices like meditation. Scott’s methodology reminds me a lot of the Buddhist philosophy of showing practical ways to get into Satori, the state of awakening. I never expected this kind of methodology coming from Western culture. I could not help myself writing to Scott, then two weeks later I flew to Denver from Tokyo and we met each other in person. Since then, I have been facilitating the expansion of the Parallel Mode Process and Arete Sports in Japan.
